Local Ride Bike Shop has teamed up with Dr. Vie Superfoods+ to create a new powerhouse women’s road and track racing squad in B.C. for 2011. The project is in keeping Local Ride Bike Shop’s mandate to support women’s cycling. In the past five years, Local Ride Bike Shop’s commitment to women’s cycling has resulted in developing BC Cup, Provincial, National, and World Cup champions.
“With the added valuable support from Dr. Vie Superfoods+ there is no limit to what these women will be able to achieve,” said Team Manager and Local Ride Bike Shop Owner Barry Lyster.
2011 Goals
Team Local Ride / Dr. Vie Superfoods+ aims to be competitive with the top women’s teams in Canada, racing provincial, national, and international events like BC Cups, BC Superweek, and National Championships. National Track Cycling Team members and World Cup Team Pursuit winners Laura Brown and Steph Roorda will strive to represent Canada at World Cups and World Championships in their quest to don the maple leaf in London 2012.
Jasmin Glaesser, Jessica Hannah, and Jenny Lehmann add even more horsepower to the roster with the goal of winning high exposure races, while developing racers Rachel Canning, Sarah Coney, and Lisa Perlmutter are slated to provide support at local and provincial races. Eleven-year-old Maggie Coles-Lyster will make up the Youth Development component of the team.
