Specialized has introduced a new pump for 2007, the sleek, light and compact AirTool Carbon mini pump. It has a carbon handle and barrel combined with an aluminum shaft for durable performance. It’s easy to store on the bike or in a jersey pocket, it’s Presta and Schraeder valve compatible and includes a nifty secret storage space inside the handle that comes stocked with glueless patches. The AirTool Carbon Mini retails for $70.95. If you’re looking for something a little lighter on your wallet, the AirTool Mini with aluminum construction has all the function for less. It retails for $30.95.
Monday Spin Sessions
On Monday, December 17, we saw seven participants, including Barry, Steve, Marie, Rob K., Alex, Barb and baby Edward. Our weekly indoor spinning sessions kick off Mondays at 6:15 p.m. Bring your bike, trainer, shoes, two towels (one for yourself and one for under your bike) lots of water and $5 for the drop in fee. If you don’t have your own trainer, we’ll have a limited number of rentals available for $5 per session. Please call ahead to reserve. Workouts generally last between one and two hours. Note, there will NOT be a Spin Session on Monday, January 1.
Want to do some indoor training at home? We offer Spinerval DVD rentals at $5 for two days. Plus, we have a new, bigger selection that includes Spinervals On the Road – Autumn Country Training Ride, and Rides: Volume 1 – The Rockies and Volume 2 – Las Vegas. Come check them out and spice up your winter training.
Sunday Ride
Sunday’s Ride is a go for New Year’s Eve. Come out for your last bike ride of the year!
Join us regularly for a Sunday road ride. Depending on numbers, we’ll try to split into an “A” and “B” group. The “A” Group normally averages around 30kph for 3+ hours, while the “B” Group hovers around 25kph for 2+ hours. Road bikes and fenders (with extenders) are mandatory. Make sure you join us for coffee before we head off:
Where: Starbuck’s at Valley Fair Mall, Maple Ridge
When: Sundays @ 8:30 a.m. for coffee; ETD @ 9:00 a.m.
Saturday Women’s Ride
We’ve had positive feedback on our idea of hosting a women’s group ride on Saturdays. This ride would slightly scale back the hammerfest mentality of the Sunday rides, but still focus on a steady endurance ride of around three hours. We’re aiming to have our first Saturday Women’s Ride on January 13. Road bikes and fenders (with extenders) are mandatory. Call or come by the shop if you have any questions.
Where: Starbuck’s at Valley Fair Mall, Maple Ridge
