Cross Action & New Swag!!!

Local Ride Racing Team
At the Team Coastal ‘Cross at the Delta Watershed on Sunday, several of our racers had great finishes.  Our newest team member, Jean Ann McKirdy, came in first in the Women’s A group.  Great job Jean Ann!  Jeanine placed 6th in the Women’s B group, with Sue Weston of Natural Earth racing finishing in 8th place.  As for the Master’s Men, Roy finished in a contested 8th place, Graham Garrison (Natural Earth) 9th,  Rob B. placed 14th, and Paul Craig (Natural Earth) 18th.  In the Men’s Cat A, Carsten Ivany (Natural Earth) came in 5th place.
The next ‘cross race is the EV Grand Prix of Cyclocross on September 29th in Coquitlam.  Of course, we know you’re all just as excited about the Local Ride Cyclocross Race (aka Pumpkin Cross 2007) on October 28th.  If you’ve never been to a ‘cross race, check out this spectator-friendly race course.  And, as always, we will be needing volunteers to help out with course set-up, registration, and marshalling.

Featured Products
Summer has come to an end, it seems.  If you need to convert your summer bike into something more ready for the wet months ahead, we have fenders and lights and we can install them for you.  Don’t let a little wet weather stop your cycling routine.Sunday Ride
Meet fellow cyclists regularly for a Sunday morning road ride. With such a large number of riders and a varying level of abilities, we’ve created a division in the group. The A-Group rides can be very strenuous and last up to six hours. They’re a great workout for experienced and trained cyclists, but not ideal for people who aren’t used to intense riding. If you’re planning on joining the B-Group, please contact us at the store and let us know. We look forward seeing you! Note: With the competitive season underway and races are happening every weekend, many Local Ride riders will not attend Sunday Rides.

Helmets and road bikes with fenders and fender extenders are mandatory when it’s wet. Make sure you have appropriate clothing. Please call or come by the shop for a pre-ride briefing.

Where: Starbuck’s at Valley Fair Mall on Lougheed Highway in Maple Ridge
When: Sundays @ 8:30 a.m. for coffee; ETD @ 9:00 a.m.
Saturday Women’s Ride
The attendance at Local Ride’s Saturday Women’s Rides is…well…not so good.  One of our regular participants, Lindsay, has volunteered to start an email list for the ladies where they can let others know if they plan to attend or not – in advance!  This will help avoid anyone being the lonely rider on a Saturday.  We have thought about moving it to Sundays at the same time and place as the Sunday morning rides, and it seems that many women would appreciate this move.  Probably in the fall, we’ll make the move official.  Stay tuned.    Sandra Report

Sandra will back in less than a week, and we at Local Ride are uber-excited to have her back.  She’ll be writing the weekly newsletters, updating the website, and all sorts of computer-related projects that the rest of us can’t figure out.  Hey, we can’t all be computer-savvy professional bike riders!
