Cyclocross Season is Here!

With September and the first Cyclocross race just around the corner we here at Local Ride wanted to start getting you all pumped for the Autumn race season. With that in mind we recommend watching the video below of Pumpkin Cross 2009 and then getting your costumes ready for this years race happening October 24th.

Congrats to BC Cup Winners

Local Ride Racing was at it again this past weekend competing at the BC Cup Mountain Bike Finals and the Seymour Hill Climb Challenge.

Whistler XC

Held on the supper flowy trails of Lost Lake, Whistler was the perfect venue to host the final installment of the BC Cup race series. The 8 Local Ride Racers were not only going for the race win, but also the Corridor Cup title, as well as the BC Cup overall titles. It was a good day for the team, here’s how it worked out in the end.

  • Jean Ann McKirdy – 3rd, 1st Overall BC Cup elite women, 1st Open Mixed Corridor Cup
  • Steve Devantier – 1st, 1st Overall BC Cup senior men
  • Ryan Newsome – 4th , 4th Overall BC Cup master men, 1st Open Mixed Corridor Cup
  • Jeanine Ball – 2nd, 1st Overall BC Cup master women
  • Paul Craig – 11th master 40-49
  • Andrew Kerr – 10th master 30-39
  • Ryan Jeans – 11th master 30-39
  • Sue Weston – 3rd 40+ Women

Mount Seymour Hill Climb

Back on skinny tires, Rich Machhein and Mike Berkenpas tested their legs up the grueling 13km Seymour Hill Climb. Team H&R set a blistering tempo off the start trying to set up Sebastian Salas for a record breaking ride. Mike rode himself “cross eyed” trying to stay with the group and did well to finish. The big surprise came from Rich, who in his first race with his new cat 2 license placed an impressive 10th overall.
