Summer feels a long way off, but it’s really not. Soon March will roll around, along with Daylight Savings and Spring Break, followed by April and Easter. Then it’s the home stretch, with May flowers and the May 2-4 weekend. So get on with the planning, holiday booking, and training for this year’s goal – Gran Fondo, charity ride, first road race, first Century, or putting the boots to riding buddies. Bike the Dykes – Sat., Mar. 3-31


Explore the dykes of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows by bike 1-2 hours at a time. Your knowledgeable ride leaders will help you discover some of the beautiful natural areas around the Ridge-Meadows area in a fun and social setting.

This course is offered in partnership by Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Parks & Rec, Golden Ears Physiotherapy, and Local Ride Bike Shop.

Location: Meet at the Pitt Meadows Family Rec Centre
Cost: $95.20 / 5 sessions
Age: 16 and up

Basic Bike Maintenance Clinic – Thurs, Mar. 15 & 22

This basic bicycle maintenance clinic is geared toward recreational cyclists who want to ensure they have the skills and tools to get out of a mechanical jam if caught out on the road or trails. The experienced instructors will also cover valuable tips to help participants get the most life out of their bikes. The course consists of two sessions taught by a professional mechanic with lots of real world examples. Lessons also include hands-on components, like changing a flat tire and learning to use a chain tool. Please bring your bike for reference, but note that most demonstrations will be done on the class demo bike.

Women’s Only Road Cycling Clinic – Sun., Mar. 11 & 18

Improve your cycling skills in a fun and supportive environment. Golden Ears Physio‘s Kinesiologists have the biomechanics down and the Local Ride Bike Shop‘s team of female cyclists have represented Canada on the world stage, and now you can learn from the best of both worlds. Learn basic bike handling skills and group riding techniques on the excellent cycling terrain Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows have to offer.

This course is offered in partnership by Maple Ridge Pitt Meadows Parks & Rec, Golden Ears Physiotherapy, and Local Ride Bike Shop.

Local Ride Bike Shop’s Saturday Morning Road Ride – Saturdays, Ongoing

Join Local Ride Racing members and other local cyclists on Saturday mornings at 9:00am for steady aerobic endurance road rides. Ride leaders will guide participants along some of the lesser known rural roads of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows with the odd jaunt to Langley or Mission for a steady fitness ride of 2-3 hours.

Location: Local Ride Bike Shop
Dates: Saturday mornings, 9:00 am.
Ride duration: 2-3 hours.
What: You will need a ROAD bike. Please come prepared with a helmet, spare tube, bottles, multi tool etc. FULL FENDERS with an extender are required now that the rainy season is upon us.
Who: Anyone looking for a steady paced fitness ride.
Cost: A one-time $5 Local Ride Club fee.
