Local Ride Bike Shop is pleased to present the sixth annual Pumpkin Cross cyclo-cross race in Maple Ridge on Sunday, October 28. Pumpkin Cross is all about having fun on two wheels, so Halloween costumes are strongly encouraged – there’s even a costume contest with great prizes! Pumpkin Cross is more than a race, it’s an event with activities for the whole family. The discipline of cyclo-cross is kind of kooky, and it’s a great way for beginners to enter the competitive cycling ranks. With attainable race times and an array of skill sets, it’s not necessarily the fastest pedaler who will win. Want a fun, new challenge? Try cyclo-cross!

Beginner Men and Women | U17 Men and Women
- Open to One-event, citizen or UCI license
- 30-minute race
10:45 am
Intermediate Men and Women
- Open to One-event, citizen or UCI license
- 45-minute race
11:30 am
Free Kids Race
- Open to children under the age of 14
- No license required
11:45 am – Awards for 10:00 am and 10:45 am starts

12 noon
Elite Men (includes Senior Elite Men, Master 1/2 Men, Cat 3 Men who wanna race with the big boyz, Elite Women who want to make the boys cry)
- Must hold UCI Licence
- 60-minute race
Elite Women | Master 40+ Men
- Must hold UCI Licence
- 45 minute race
1:15 pm – Awards 12:00 noon start

Location and Parking
We will once again be using the Maple Ridge Equi-Sport Centre / North Alouette Greenway Park, located on Park Lane just off of 132 Ave. in Maple Ridge. Click here to get directions. Racers will be treated to a fabulous course, with some spooky technical twists, plenty of slimy, off-camber grass, some screaming fast gravel, and wicked barriers.
***Note: Please no pre-riding of the course until race morning. This is horse territory and horses and bikes tend not to get along. Thank you for your understanding.
****Despite the popularity of Pumpkin Cross in the community, we were nearly forced to cancel the event due to issues securing the venue, which uses the North Alouette Greenway and home of the Maple Ridge Equi-Sports Centre. Pumpkin Cross has used this venue for the past two years. After some last-minute negotiations we did receive permission to run the race in the same location this year, but we did have to make some compromises, including the possibility of cancellation if the course is flooded, so let’s pray for sun! Thanks for your support!
