Local Ride Bike Shop will host two individual cycling time trials in Pitt Meadows this April, including the latest addition – the Pitt-Polder TT on April 6, the day before the Barry’s Roubaix spring classic. The second will be held on the same course and run as part of Maple Ridge’s popular early-season stage race, Race the Ridge.
“Having two time trials on the same course only three weeks apart offers a great tool for cyclists and triathletes to gauge their fitness and training progress early in the season,” said race organizer Barry Lyster.
Lyster has introduced this new time trial route for this year’s 11th edition of Race the Ridge, April 27-28, and he is offering riders a chance to get it dialed before the main event on April 6, the day before the Barry’s Roubaix road race.
“We wanted to give racers a chance to check out the new time trial course in a race situation as a kind of sneak peek for Race the Ridge,” added Lyster.
The course is approximately 12.5km in length, starting on Harris Road in Pitt Meadows, 3.6km north of the Lougheed Highway, and travels along the community’s beautiful rural roads all the way to Pitt Lake. Although the route contains very little change in elevation, it will certainly be challenging with some rough pavement and often strong winds.
Both time trial events welcome para-cyclists.
